What are Open Graph images and why do they matter?
Open Graph (OG) images are the preview images that appear when your links are shared on social platforms. A compelling preview image dramatically increases click-through rates compared to links with no image or auto-generated thumbnails.
Where OG images appear
- Twitter/X: Large image cards in feeds and when links are pasted in tweets
- Facebook: Link previews in posts, comments, and Messenger shares
- LinkedIn: Article and link previews in feeds and direct messages
- Slack and Discord: URL unfurls when links are pasted in channels
- iMessage and SMS: Rich link previews on iOS and some Android apps
Design tips for effective OG images
- Standard size: 1200x630 pixels is the recommended resolution for all major platforms
- Text placement: Keep important text in the center to avoid cropping on different platforms
- Font size: Use large, bold headlines that remain readable at thumbnail sizes
- Brand consistency: Include your logo and use colors that match your site's identity
- Contrast: Ensure text stands out clearly against the background gradient or color
Enter your headline and subtitle, choose a template, and optionally upload your logo. All image generation happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your text and logo never leave your device, and no data is sent to any server.
